How to: Restore configuration on smartappliances

Modified on Fri, 10 Jan 2020 at 06:23 PM

The smartManagement software allows a user an easy way to restore configuration information on the appliances.

Prior to performing any restoration of configuration information, it is highly recommended to backup/download the existing configuration file from the appliances. The process remains the same for the smartdirector as well as the smartengine.

Steps to follow

This is what you will see

Step 1.

Login to the smartappliances using admin credentials and click on Admin Tools from the Applications menu.

Step 2.

Under the System Configurationsection, click on Download link

  • This action will download the existing configuration file (.cfg) on to your PC.

After the existing configuration file has been backed up, a user can proceed with restoring the desired configuration file. In this example, we are restoring a configuration file that is currently residing on the user’s PC.

Steps to follow

This is what you will see

Step 1. Under the same System Configuration section, click on the Browse… button, and select the desired configuration file (.cfg file) to be restored from your PC.

Step 2. You will see the desired configuration file to be restored appear. In this example the name of the file is L3_PilotSpace.cfg.

Step 3. Next, click on the Restore button to initiate the process.

Step 4. A dialog box will appear, prompting the user to take action. If the new configuration includes any network/time changes, then a reboot is required. Click on the reboot link.

The appliance will reboot and load up the desired configuration file.
